Magicka DK PVP for BGs – “Balrog”

Magicka DK PVP for BGs - Balrog

Elder Scrolls Online Magicka DK PVP for BGs (Dragonknight) Build
Update 24 – Dragonhold

Build focus: Approachable, sturdy, good-sustain, above-average damage
Use: Battle Grounds and Non-CP Cyrodiil / Imperial City – Can also be useful in CP campaigns for small-squad PVP
We theory crafted this build on stream over the course of a couple weeks. Ideally, this is a good build for beginners with relatively easy to source gear and without overly complicated game-play. However, experienced players will also find this build fun for an aggressive play-style!
We utilize [esoset id=”111″ tooltip=”true”] to increase mitigation and, therefore, free a slot on our front bar (no need for [esoskill id=”42″ tooltip=”true”]) and use more of the Dragonknight tool-set. This is my current go-to PVP MagDK build as it’s performing well in all forms of BG match types. It’s really fun destroying unsuspecting NightBlades who are surprised by Magelight!

Please Note: Above all, this build is something I made to compliment MY play-style. If this doesn’t work for you, by all means, tweak it to your liking! There is no one way to play The Elder Scrolls Online!

Front Bar: Damage. [esoskill id=”15″ tooltip=”true”] is a DoT as well as a heal. Land it twice for an effective heal when pressuring on front bar. Keep your DoTs active as much as possible in between spamming [esoskill id=”6″ tooltip=”true”] and [esoskill id=”84″ tooltip=”true”] (when available) for a great stun and big damage buff. [esoskill id=”589″ tooltip=”true”] is an important DOT to keep active as it gives Major Sorcery which is a big buff to damage! [esoskill id=”38″ tooltip=”true”] is a fantastic opener or finisher when your target(s) have 30% or less health.

Back Bar: Survive. Cast [esoskill id=”435″ tooltip=”true”] , [esoskill id=”82″ tooltip=”true”], [esoskill id=”54″ tooltip=”true”] in that order for maximum heals when on back bar. I try to keep [esoskill id=”26″ tooltip=”true”] up as much as possible, as well. It’s also not a bad idea to keep [esoskill id=”435″ tooltip=”true”] up as much as possible for a consistent heal over time. If things get too hairy, for instance, you can always utilize [esoskill id=”428″ tooltip=”true”] to allow time to escape, finish a messy group brawl, or survive longer in chaos ball. Finally, since NightBlades can be a serious pain, I love keeping [esoskill id=”587″ tooltip=”true”] on this bar to pop their stealth, lock them down and whip them to death <evil grin>!

Why chains? Because it’s really useful for isolating players out of a pack so your group can burn them down, harassing and interrupting players, and gap closing in game modes like relic and chaos ball.

Passives: All DK Skill Lines, All Destruction and Restoration, All Light Armor, Resolve, Constitution, Juggernaut in Heavy Armor, Medium Armor passives optional, All Mages Guild, All Undaunted, All Racial, Combat Frenzy in Assault, Battle Resurrection in Support

Stats and Things, of course

Race: Breton for sustain or Dunmer if Vampire

Stats: 64 Magicka

Mundus: The Apprentice for more damage

Food: Bewitched Sugar Skulls or Longfin Melon Pastry – if sustain is an issue for you, Clockwork Citrus Filet can help

Potions: Tri-Stat or Immovable

Vampire or Werewolf: I don’t recommend either. While this build is somewhat tanky, the amount of extra damage from Dawnbreaker and fire to vampire is not worth the risk in my opinion. However, the increased resource regen and the [esoskill id=”547″ tooltip=”true”] passive could be beneficial… your choice! Werewolf is more about stamina builds so it doesn’t offer benefits here.

CHAMPION POINTS

While this build is designed with Non-CP and Battlegrounds in mind, I have tried it a few times in CP Cyrodiil. It can be a very effective skirmisher and sniper chaser provided you have a small group for support. It’s also quite fun in Imperial City!

Assuming 810 CP, here’s a recommended CP allocation if you decide to brave CP Cyrodiil

Naturally, your mileage may vary – feel free to tweak to your own liking!
